Shawarma is a popular Middle Eastern street food consisting of marinated and roasted meat (typically lamb, chicken, turkey, or beef) stacked in an inverted cone.
Shawarma days are one of my kids’ favorites. You can make it easily at home with pulled meat when hosting dinner or brunch. Get creative with the toppings and salads. Let me show you how I make my Chicken Shawarma.

Here’s how 💃🏻
Ingredients:
The meat
🍗 1 kg boneless, skinless chicken upper thighs
🧄 2 cloves garlic
🌶️ 1 tsp paprika powder
🧂 2 tsp shawarma spice
🥢 2 tbsp soy sauce
🌰 1 tsp cumin
🟡 1 tbsp mustard
🍯 Splash of date syrup
🫒 Olive oil
🧂 Salt and pepper
The salad
🍅 Tomato
🧅 Red onion
🫑 Paprika
🥒 Cucumber
🌿 Parsley
🍋 Lemon juice
Method:
Make the marinade, then let the meat rest for at least 1 hour (even better overnight).
Place the meat on a tray, add a splash of water, and bake for 30 minutes, flipping once.
When ready, take two forks and pull the meat apart.
Serve in a pita with hummus, salad, boiled egg, or pickles. Or as a platter with rice, or French fries.
It’s a total winner, enjoy ❤️
