We talk a lot about paprikash. This paprikash, that paprikash but never about this incredible mushroom paprikash! The same cozy Hungarian classic comfort food, just with mushrooms instead of meat, and trust me… you’ll fall in love with it 🍄❤️

Perfect for vegans when using plant-based cream 🌱

Here’s how 💃🏻

🛒 Ingredients

🧅 1 onion

🧄 2 cloves garlic

🫑 1 yellow paprika

🍅 1 tomato

🍄 600 g champignon mushrooms (csiperke gomba in Hungary)

🥄 2 tbsp vegetable oil

🥛 1 cup cooking cream (plant-based if you prefer 🌱)

🌿 Parsley

🌶️ Sweet paprika powder

🧂 Salt & pepper

🥣 Vegan cream (or sour cream for the non-kosher, non-vegan alternative)

👩‍🍳 Method

1️⃣ Sauté the onion in oil until translucent. Turn off the heat, add paprika powder, and mix well

2️⃣ Add the rest of the veggies and cook together.

3️⃣ Add mushrooms, salt & pepper, and mix.

4️⃣ Cook on medium until the mushrooms release their water, then let it evaporate.

5️⃣ Stir in cream and parsley; simmer for a few minutes.

6️⃣ Garnish with sour cream and more parsley. 🌿

Serve with:

🍽️ Nokedli (Hungarian dumplings)

Mix 500 g flour, ½ tsp salt, 2 eggs, and water until gooey. Cook in salted boiling water.
