Túrógombóc aka Hungarian Cottage Cheese Dumplings 🧈

I love this dish for so many reasons. It’s DELICIOUS, easy, quick, brings back so many memories, and its simplicity gives a kind of comfort nothing else can. 🐄

Here’s how 💃🏻
Ingredients:
🥣 500g cottage cheese
🍬 1 tbsp powdered sugar
🌾 4 tbsp semolina
🍯 1 packet vanilla sugar
🍋 Lemon zest
🥚 2 eggs
🍞 Breadcrumbs
🧈 Butter
🧂 Pinch of salt
Method:
Mix the cottage cheese, powdered sugar, semolina, eggs, vanilla sugar, lemon zest & a pinch of salt. Mix well and let it rest for at least 1 hour.
In a pan, fry the breadcrumbs in butter until golden brown.
With wet hands, form small balls from the rested mixture.
Gently drop them into hot salted water (not boiling!)
When they float to the top, they’re ready. Flip them once, then remove carefully and roll in the golden breadcrumbs until fully coated.
Serve warm with sour cream, extra powdered sugar, and some fresh or juicy fruit. 🍓
